On December 27th we headed out to Kalispell despite the roads not being the best. We got a late enough start though that by the time we got to Snoqualmie the roads were not too bad. Overall the roads were not too bad and we were able to make decent time and get to Kalispell about 9:45 pm. The next morning the kids and Hans went with Grandpa to plow the roads and I went to get my hair done. It took a bit longer than expected, but I was really happy with how the cute and color turned out. That afternoon we went sledding at my brother's house. The kids had a lot of fun playing in the snow. I took my pictures and then they were erased off my card. Urg! I am still hoping to maybe retrieve them off, but I haven't had time to mess with it yet. Hopefully soon.
The next day Hans and I went shopping for ski boots. I have been having some feet problems and decided it might be beneficial for me to get some new ski boots. We went to sports man and ski house and found a spendy but beautiful pair of boots! A bit more than I wanted to spend but they are super comfortable and did I mention pretty! That night I had gotten my new camera in the mail! I had fun playing around with it and immediately the girls claimed my old camera. Josh and Carrie and the kids came for dinner and to play. I let Raelyn play with my camera and she erased all my pictures...urg!!
Friday we ran some errands and then decided to go night skiing at Big Mountain. We headed out around 2:30 which gave us lots of time to get up there and get ready. It had changed so much from when I had last been up there that it wasn't the smoothest get ready we have ever had. The big kids had an easy time heading off with Hans and got to go on the big hill as we watched them come down. I had a bit of a tough start with Raelyn, but once we got moved down to a different lodge we were able to make quite a few runs on Chair 6 and it went a lot better. If we ever go up there again we will have a much better idea of where to park and set up.
The next day was Saturday, New Year's Eve. We decided to go bowling in the afternoon with the gang. The kids love bowling and it is a great activity to do in the winter. The girls were showing off their new clothes they went shopping for with Grandma the day before. We had lunch at MacKenzie River and then went to the bowling place. Piper fell asleep on the way there and slept the whole time! So cute! But a bummer she missed out on the bowling she was so cute last time we went.

Then as is always tradition we went to Dairy Queen for treats afterwards. We saw a pregnant deer in the parking lot.
That night we played chicken foot at Grandma Betty's house. The kids loved it and we had a lot of laughs. It was really a lot of fun! Did I take any pictures? Of course not...bummer! Then we went back to my mom's house for the final countdown to the new year. The kids had cupcakes and then did the poppers and it was off to bed!
New Year's Day we planned a family party for after church. We didn't make it to church because we were too tired and didn't get moving too fast. And we were so bummed that Carrie's boys got the stomach flu and then couldn't come. But we got to see Aunt Patty and Uncle Ken, Aunt Jessie and Grandma. And of course Josh and Carrie and Diedrich and Piper came to. The kids had one more romp in the snow and played with their cousins. A great way to bring in the New Year!

We still love our Miss Piper! I don't know if she loves us as much...lol!
My baby fell asleep on m lap so I had to catch a picture. That doesn't happen often anymore!
Josh and Piper caught a nap too!
On Monday we were planning to head down to Whitehall to do some skiing and snowmobiling, but the weather was not cooperative and was going to be way below zero. So instead we decided to head back home to get back to school work and get our rental house ready to go on the market. We were bummed to not to get to see Mary and Eric again and do some fun activities, but it was nice to get home early too and get some much needed things done so we could get back to the homeschooling. We also found plenty of work to do out at our rental to prep it for sale. So we started working on all of that that week. The work and adventures are never ending!
Happy New Year! I hope I can keep up a bit better this year, but the likely is not good! LOL! But I do vow to continue this blog even if the posts are few and far between. I still love recording our lives in this way.
