White Pass Ski Trip-2012

On March 22nd we headed up to White Pass for our second annual ski trip with the Chadwick family.  This year we rented two loft condos so we could each have our own space.  It worked out well since both our families are growing and we have lots of kids and stuff between our two families.  The first night we just got unpacked and then when the hot pool opened and we had some dinner we headed down for some swimming.  I think the kids like the swimming pool at this resort just as much as they like the skiing.  Especially my younger two.  They had fun swimming around in their life jackets, getting snow from the edge of the pool, and keeping us parents busy and not relaxing.

That night we just got the kids to bed and then we hung out talking and catching up and relaxing a little before we headed to bed.

The next day it was off to skiing as early as we could get going. The guys went and got our passes updated and skis taken over to the hill.  Then we got all the kids bundled up and head over to the hill.  It was great weather and I was impressed with how much snow was there. I was totally expecting all the snow to be gone since we were going so late this year, but it worked out great and the weather was fantastic.

Here are a few pictures of us getting ready.  The group shots crack me up since they look so not excited to go out or at least not excited to get their pictures taken.

Once we got down there it took a bit for Hans to get Olivia going and he couldn't take Claire at the same time so she sat by me upset in the snow that she couldn't go yet.

Olivia's first run down the platter lift.  She did great and was controlling her speed with a pie pretty good.
It was so warm Aubrey and I didn't even wear gloves.
Then Hans took Claire.  She had a bit of a tough time.

Then with a little help from Anna, Olivia was able to figure out how to ride the platter lift by herself, making it so Hans could concentrate on Claire more.

Claire was doing pretty good but when she fell she would get upset.  She was upset she couldn't keep up with Riley (who had been up 4 times already this year) and Olivia who is just older and stronger.

Even Olivia took some spills but at least it didn't phase her too much and she just got up and kept trying.

Finally they decided to take a run on the chair lift.  Claire was tired by this point and her ankle was hurting so she sat at the bottom with Anna and I.  Aubrey was tired and fell asleep in my lap.  After they came down we headed in for lunch and a break.  Then Claire decided to stay with me for the afternoon while Olivia and Riley went back out with their dads.  I was able to watch from the window while they were on the platter lift and had just as good of a view as I did actually being on the slope.

Here are some pictures Hans took with our little camera that afternoon...

That night we did some more swimming after dinner.  Then we put the kids to bed and played Settlers of Catan.  It is such a fun game and I actually won.  I swear that I never win games and that Hans and Anna (who I think are very lucky at games) ALWAYS win, so I was shocked to actually win. (Thanks Anna for the pictures)

The next day it was the same story.  It was cloudy in the morning and the wind was blowing a bit so Aubrey and I didn't last as long and headed back to watch from the window and Claire joined us shortly after that.  Olivia went the whole day except lunch and was doing great by the end of the day.  She even went down a blue square.

Have I mentioned lately how much Aubrey loves her babies?  Well she does.  She is a lot like Claire in that respect.

And Claire is loving coloring these days and doing much better at coloring in the lines.  She sings and talks to herself as we she colors.

Here are some of the pictures Hans took that morning with the camera, you can see the sun did come out after we got off the hill.

That night we did more of the same as well, dinner, swimming, and then bed and the adults played Settlers again and wow...I won again!!  I guess I can't say I don't win any more ;-)

The next morning it was time to pack up and go home.  The girls watched some movies, I took some last minute pictures and packed.

Just before we left we did some group shots with the timer.  Here is baby Liam.  Yes he was there he was just usually bundled up or sleeping most of the time.

Cousins are the best!  They seriously have so much fun together and it is so fun to see.
Weird lighting but still cute.
Our family where all the kids are looking down at Riley through the window and not up at the camera, but hey at least they are smiling ;-)

We had a great trip and are already looking forward to next year.  Hopefully we can get Claire going better next year and maybe even start Aubrey at just over 2.  We will see as we will also have the new little miss to contend with as well ;-)

I will try to put together a post with the video clips soon.  But I am too tired tonight and better get to bed.  At least I got this one up!!
