Saturday the 26th was a busy day for us as we had two birthday parties we wanted to attend, which normally wouldn't be too difficult except in this case one of the parties was on the other side of the sound from us so it was long day filled with travel, ferries, and of course pizza and cake. We left home around 9:30 in the morning and headed to the Edmonds-Kingston ferry missing the 10:05 ferry by about 2 minutes. A total bummer, but it was beautiful out so we headed over to Kingston Farmer's Market to waste some time. After our ferry ride (which the girls are getting used to since we have taken this ferry 3 weekends in a row) we stopped at a mall to replace our Apple laptop power cord and found our navigation system came in pretty handy. Then we finally made it to Riley's first birthday party at around 1 pm.
Here is the card that Olivia made for Riley. If you look at the top right of the card you can see where Olivia wrote her name. She likes to write o's and l's and hasn't taken to the rest of the letters in her name yet.

I must admit Olivia was not too excited to go to baby Riley's birthday party as she had figured out that a 1 year old party doesn't have many kids there, mostly family, and is not near as fun as a 7 year olds party. But she had fun and Riley was glad that his cousins came to play with him and distract him from wanting to take a nap. Claire and Riley both loved this little car and didn't want to share very badly with each other.

After some yummy pizza for lunch it was time for gifts. Riley had this very cute prince chair to sit in while he opened his gifts. Well he mostly watched while Olivia and Anna helped him unwrap his gifts and read his cards.

Then it was cake time. Anna made this very cute fire truck cake for Riley.
He liked everyone singing to him.
Then really wanted to touch the fire, but didn't quite get he was suppose to blow it out.
Anna tried giving him some frosting and he didn't like it much and made a ton of cute faces...especially since he was getting a lot of laughs.

He did like playing in it for a little bit, but was soon done with the cake thing.
Claire was really wanting some cake!
Then we headed off back across the water to our friends house. Paul and Gina had a party for Marissa turning 7 and her brother Kyle turning 3. Riley and Marissa share a birthday on the 27th. We were a little late but thankfully we didn't miss any of the games because Olivia really wanted to play the games.

You can see why Olivia was so excited to go to Marissa's party she knew there would be a lot of kids there (she remembered from last year).
This is a favorite game of digging in the straw for prizes so fun.
Even Claire got into it.
And then she found a car. She loves her cars already.

Olivia and Jada had a blast as always.
We all had a great day despite all the driving and were so glad to be able to wish 3 special people a happy birthday.
